His strength

September 06, 2018 0 Comments

The month of Septemeber will be the first month where I will deal with more that one subject. I will talk about strength and showing up. I believe they go together. Your strength comes from three places, God, you and others. This is like the accountability circle I talked about in August. God will always come first but this time you are second and others are last. The Bible has many scriptures that refer going to God for strength or he is our strength. I will use the scripture from Isaiah 40.29.

They define strength as the capacity of an object or substance to withstand great force or pressure:. This is a what we go through daily.   Pressures that come in the form of marital issues, teen peer pressure, a bad health diagnosis, loss of a loved one, loss of a job you have worked at for years and the list could go on and on. The great force or pressures in our lives would take over us if it wasn't for God's strength,  We would give up and check out. We wouldn't get up in the morning, go to work or be there for our families. In verse 29 it says He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. God shows up to be a support system when it would seem we do not have one. He will assist us when we are faint. When we are drained of all of our strength. He gives us power. The ability to move forward even when we don't want to. He allows us to move little by little. Grace and mercy are there following us so no one gets to close behind us to push us over the edge. Your might have left you but he will increase you.
God will give the words, people and rest to make it through.

When my son passed I don't know how I could handle that trauma. I was 20  and my son died at 2 years old on Thanksgiving day. I need God more than ever but instead; I rejected him. He hurt me.  How could a  loving God take my baby away?  God didn't get mad at me but strengthened me. He was keeping me when I did not want to be kept. He was directing my footsteps to my strong tower even when I did not know where I was going. I can say sometimes I lost my mind and if God had not place people where he did I would not have made it.
His strength goes beyond our weakness and deals with pain. He is there saying "I got it let it go". "I can heal it if you just let it go"." I'm here". "Rest my child".  2 Corinthians 12:9  states  "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."  God let Apostle Paul know that no matter the situations he was there with him. His strength is made perfect in weakness. My son death could have stopped me from living. I could have relived his death daily but God strengthened me. At my weak point, God's grace was enough. Every second until I could make a minute he was there. Then the minute turned into minutes. The minutes turned until 5 minutes. From faith to faith. I wasn't perfect but his strength was.
Trust in the strength of God. It will get you through even when you don't know how you are going to make it.

Fear, The Purpose Killer or Liberator

February 07, 2018 0 Comments

The month of February will represent FEAR/FREEDOM. These two words represent either you have stopped or you are moving forward. Fear will always stop you.Freedom will always move you . Fear comes from a place of being scared of the unknown and not wanting to know what the outcome will be. When we are fearful  we look like the little girl in the picture below.

We can't walk around like this and expect to go far. The truth of the matter is that most of us are walking around with our hands over our eyes and expecting to get through life not seeing what is going on around us.

We are  fearful of so many things. We fear enlightenment. We are fearful of growth. We fear the plans that God has for our lives. We fear his plans will take us to  places we don't want to go. We fear will have to engage with people that we don't know and that scares us to death. With all this fear how will freedom come. We have to get pass fear and be set free.

We have to begin to walk in freedom. Freedom is not easy. Freedom requires us to do something that doesn't come naturally to us.  Freedom requires trusting (rely on ,depend on) God. We have to trust that  God will  see us through our lives journey. Jesus said he would send the Comforter to guide us.  We must trust the Holy Spirit will direct us through our fearful situations. A good  example of a  fearless woman in  the Bible is  Queen Esther.

Queen Esther saved her people from a impeding death.  Her story takes place in Babylon when the children of Israel are taken captive.  Esther was a young girl living with her Uncle Mordecai.

There came a time when King Ahasuerus sent out a decree looking for a new queen. Mordecai sent Esther in for the running and  she won. She was the new Queen and soon she would be required to help her people. She had won the favour of the king and it would work for her good later.

There was a plan hatched to kill the Jewish people. Mordecai got word to the Queen asking for her help in the matter. Queen Esther was in a pickle. She was newly appointed to this position and now she is being asked to save the Jewish people, her people. In order to make this happen, she had to get before the King. The problem with that  was there were certain times you can meet with the King.  If you went before the King without permission you were to be killed unless he raised his scepter toward you.
What was Queen Esther to do?
She did the FEAR steps .
1.Face it- Queen Esther had no choice. She had to face the fact that someone was trying to kill the Jewish people and in her position, she had to stop them. Esther was about to face either her death or delivering her people. Read Esther Chapter 3
2. Explore it- Queen Esther explored what to do. She declared a time of fasting and praying.  She called for all of the Jewish people to  fast and pray  for three days. She also required this from her immediate circle. She was going before God and needed everyone to be on one accord so she could hear what she needed to be do or not do.
Esther 4:15-17
3. Accept it- Queen Esther had to accept the answer God was going to give. She couldn't allow fear to grip her but turn that fear into freedom. The freedom to know that her God answers the  prayers of his saints.Esther 4:16
4. Respond- The response was to go and take an audience before the King without an appointment. She knows this might mean her death but it was a chance she was willing to take. She put on her royal apparel and made her way to the court. She is shown flavour and is allowed to speak to the King. Long story short the Jewish people were saved. Esther Chapter  5

When we trust God in spite of the circumstances God will respond to our prayers. The steps of FEAR brings FREEDOM.
Ester walked freely into the Kings court because no matter the outcome she had left her fear back in her chamber.

Where is your fear right now?
Are you frighten because of financial woes?
Are you fearful that your marriage is going to end in divorce?
Are your children lost to this world and you are afraid of the next call to your home?
Has your health or mental state left you wondering where  God is?

My sister's don't let fear keep you up guessing or wondering what to do. Trust  he is right there with you moving the monsters out of your way.Move your hands away from your eyes and face it. Explore where he wants to take you. Accept the outcome because a blessing is in it. Respond with praise and worship that our God is great than anything.

Fear is an enemy of yours, so stop being his friend.

How was your January?

January 30, 2018 0 Comments

Today is the last day of the month of  January. There will never be another January 31,2018. So in saying that, what have you done for yourself this month? Did you find joy in your life? Did you enjoy the snow or did you have sunshine for January?
Did you read the book you purchased or watch that movie you have been dying to see now that all of the holiday festivities are over?

Did or will you start a new thing this year? Maybe you will  take a class or classes to improve your skills for a promotion or a new job? Maybe you will start going to the gym to help improve your body for no one but you. Maybe you have decided a vacation is needed and you have started planning where you are going and with whom you are going with. Has the entrepreneur bug gotten a hold of you? Are you going to start that business that is deep in your soul?  I believe you are ready for all the new things about to happen in your life.

I pray that no matter what your life throws your way you keep going. I pray that you push pass the craziness that will show up and try to distracted you. I pray that you say to yourself "I got this " and move forward and do it with joy. I pray that you will on purpose move slow and steady in the direction of your destiny.

The next month is February and it will stand for FEAR/FREEDOM. We will be freeing ourselves so we become the fearless daughters of God. I hope you keep coming back weekly for a  new word that can encourage, enlighten and empower you through your lives crazy.
Always remember my crazy is real but I will grow through it.

Are you a joy seeker , a joy chaser or you in joy?

January 24, 2018 0 Comments

The month of January  I have dedicated to the word JOY. I believe that once you have God in your life that joy should follow.I mean the first time I came to the Lord there was joy. I was so happy. But something happened or rather life happened and my new found joy faded. I  wasn't as happy about being a Christian as before. I  felt condemned for not being happy about my salvation.

When I received the Lord at church there was no salvation committee. I mean people were happy that I had given my life to the Lord at 13 years old. They hug me and I was baptized but no one told me what this new life would be and how to live it. I wasn't ready for this life and for the next 20  + years I would prove it. I can't count the number of times I went to the altar asking for forgiveness and being happy for a day or two(if I was really good) only to be either mad, sad or suicidal later that same week. I was a hot mess.

I called this my joy seeking phrase. I was seeking joy but can't hold on to it. I would have it for a moment and then it was gone. And when it was gone I would seek joy in different places (boys, men, kids and suicide attempts). I was like that seed that Jesus taught about in the Bible

In Matthew 13 Jesus teaches about a sower planting seeds. The parable dealings with what happens to the seeds when it falls on the different grounds. I have been all these seeds at some point in my life. In my first part of my salvation, I was the wayside seed (Mat.13:19). I was not receiving the word and so it made it easy for my joy to fade.

The second attempt at salvation came after the death of my son. God blessed me to see my son leave this earth and walk into heaven in a dream. God got my attention when I was at my lows point and I was his again. I was in church just about every day. I would only watch or listen to things about God.I was now chasing joy.  I had a great church family and my kids were happy as well. But I was still missing something. After being in total love with God for 5 years  I walked away from him and stayed an away for 13 years.

My chasing joy phrase for me was when I know God but didn't  trust him. I denied his power in my life. The way I perceive God was a scary man in the sky looking down at me ready to condemn me. I only feared him because I didn't  want to go to hell. I don't believe I loved God back then. I was the seed on stony ground or in the thorns  (Mat. 13:20-22).

The final and last attempt for God to get me happened 13 years ago. I was lost and God asked one question and when I answered I was totally in the presence of God. I had the joy I had been looking for years. I was and have been in joy ever since. I am constantly with my Father. I love him because he first loved me. I love him for never giving up on me. I love him for being "I AM". He is not some judgemental, revengeful God looking to condemn me or a selfish absentee Father. He is a kind and loving Father that loved me before the earth was created. My seed is now on good ground (Mat.13:23). I'm content with my relationship with the Godhead. I am growing in grace and mercies. Every day is not perfect but the joy helps me. I have joy, what about you?
